Meet the Team: Brett Beesley

Hear what Brett Beesley, seasoned IT professional, has to say about his background in tech and his current role at Moore Insight, as well as advice he has for people seeking a role in IT.

What was your background before Moore Insight?

Since starting my first IT career in 1999, I have worked with a variety of public and private sector organisations, helping them make the most out of new technology.

Prior to joining the team at Moore Insight, in 2021, I was a Service Delivery Manager for an established IT Managed Service Provider.

Why did you decide to work at Moore Insight and what is your current role?

I used to travel a lot with my previous role but was looking for something more local and grounded, which is exactly what Moore Insight had to offer.

I was also attracted to the company because of its involvement in administering cutting-edge Microsoft technology, which was not widely used at the time.

How would you describe your current role?

I am Moore Insight's IT and Customer Service Delivery Manager, and oversee internal and external projects.

My role is busy, constantly changing, and no two days are alike. I am also constantly pushed out of my comfort zone, which is as rewarding as it is challenging.

What do you enjoy most about your role at Moore Insight?

The highlight of my job is being able to deploy cutting-edge technologies, and working alongside colleagues who are just fab!

Moore Insight pays attention to its own philosophy - it’s great to work for a company that practices its values.

What advice would you give someone who is looking to apply for a career in IT?

The IT landscape is constantly evolving.

Over the past 20 plus years, I have worked with many different types of technology, but the current trend is programming (Application development) and particularly Artificial Intelligence. So, my advice would be to focus on those two areas.

Also, experience is just as important as qualifications - sometimes even more so, since it’s a practical field. You usually hit the ground running, so having experience and an understanding of the role is paramount. Qualifications can be worked on later.
