Meet the Team: Alice Pearson

From HR apprentice to HR advisor, Alice has embraced the world of work with open arms! In this blog, read about how Alice's apprenticeship has got her to where she is today, as well as the advice she has for people wanting to start a career in Human Resources.

What was your background before Moore Insight?

Once I completed secondary school, I ended up in a 2-year HR apprenticeship at a private healthcare company, where I gained a Level 3 CIPD Diploma in HR Practice, and a Level 2 in Business Administration.

As a result of the apprenticeship, I gained a deeper understanding of all aspects of the employee lifecycle and advanced my career in HR.

Why did you decide to work at Moore Insight and what is your current role?

Moore Insight initially appealed to me because of the developmental opportunities. I joined Moore Insight as a HR Coordinator in 2021, and have recently been promoted to HR Advisor, following the completion of my CIPD Level 5 Diploma in People Management.

How would you describe your current role?

As HR Advisor, I am responsible for implementing reward and recognition schemes, providing support and advice to managers, reporting absences and sickness, as well as managing maternity and holiday allowance.

My role changes depending on the needs of the company and the people, but my main task is to ensure that Moore Insight remains a #GreatPlacetoWork and maintains a positive culture.

What do you enjoy most about your role at Moore Insight?

The variety - no two days are alike.

I also love the people aspect of the job and that I get to regularly communicate with everybody in the business, knowing that my guidance and opinions are valued.

What advice would you give someone who is looking to apply for a career in HR?

In HR, you need to be prepared to separate your personal emotion from your professional opinion. Different perspectives bring different ideas, so focus on the takeaways from every situation.

Finally, say yes to everything! Push yourself out of your comfort zone, take on every opportunity you receive, and jump in at the deep end – it is the best way to grow and develop your career.
