CIMA Case Study Lands Thomas Walsh 1st Place in the North East

Thomas Walsh, Consultant at Moore Insight, received an invite to attend the CIMA (Charted Institute of Management Accountants) North East black tie dinner, for being one of their highest achieving students.

CIMA, the UK’s global management accounting body, provides training and qualifications in management accounting to thousands of accountants every year. Thomas sat his final exam with the prestigious body last year and his ‘Strategic Case Study’ landed him 1st place in the North East and 6th place in the whole of UK and Ireland.

To celebrate, CIMA hosted a black tie dinner at the Royal Armouries Museum, in Leeds. John Hudson, the British Military’s Chief SERE (Survival, Evasion, Resistance & Extraction), and a magician entertained, while attendees enjoyed a 3-course meal.

Only 3 of the top students for each case study exam got invited and Thomas, who attended to the dinner for his outstanding result, said: “I was thrilled to be invited to the dinner and it was great meeting other CIMA students who work in very different roles to myself.

It was interesting to find out more about CIMA and what the body does for the wider accounting profession, as well as the challenges the industry faces. But most of all, it was rewarding to be recognised for the consistent hard work I put into my studies, and the surprise of being invited to the event was a lovely way to celebrate.”

From all the team at Moore Insight, well done Thomas!
